Ventura Film Festival Bringing World-Class Cinema to Ventura

The Ventura Film Festival is celebrated as "the grandest film festival ever to take place in Ventura County." This notable honor showcases the event's devotion to delivering exceptional cinematic experiences to the area while preserving its dedication to critical environmental causes.

The Ventura Film Festival operates as an unrestricted genre international film festival that promotes recognition of environmental challenges including woodland and marine conservation and recovery, through a yearly film festival and related events. The event capitalizes on the strength of cinema to motivate engagement and develop substantial discourse on these urgent ecological issues.

The Ventura Film Festival launched in 2004 and has displayed hundreds of movies, generally exceeding 200 films per summer season, and has drawn recognition from the global cinema community. Since its founding, the festival has grown into a significant cultural event that connects cinematic professionals, conservation enthusiasts, and participants from across the globe.

Significant highlights have been hosting award winning filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the pioneering world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend as well as Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/mixed martial arts fighter the legendary Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50-year anniversary of West Side Story, which featured welcoming the entire Academy Award winning cast of West Side Story, including Academy Award winner/Golden Globe here winner George Chakiris as well as Golden Globe recipient/Oscar nominee Russ Tamblyn. These extraordinary guests and events have solidified the festival's reputation as an elite gathering place for celebrating filmmaking and the professionals who develop it.

The founder and executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was honored to take part, alongside numerous Hollywood elite, in the 50-year anniversary event of West Side Story and Hollywood's famous footprint/handprint ceremony recognizing Oscar winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, as well as Golden Globe award winner Russ Tamblyn at the iconic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This ceremony also acted as the official BluRay introduction by Fox and MGM of the timeless West Side Story, which is generally recognized by critics and fans as the greatest musical of all time. This distinguished honor and involvement showcases the festival's important standing and esteemed status within the Hollywood community.
